Server Hardware

We take great care in selecting the hardware used in our servers to enable us to have maximum reliability and performance.

Below is an example specification from one of our servers:

	Supermicro - Our servers are based around a Supermicro 3U chassis and motherboard. Supermicro has a reputation for for very high quality components and great reliability.
	2x AMD 64bit Dual-Core Opteron Processors - One of the fastest processors available on the market today. The 64bit and dual-core technologies give our servers amazing performance.
	8GB DDR2 Memory - Servers require large amounts of fast memory. We use DDR2 memory for maximum speed.
	3ware RAID 10 Disk Arrays - We use 3ware Serial ATA RAID controllers and Western Digital hard disks. This allows us to offer our users generous amounts of web space, and RAID 10 gives our servers amazing performance and reliability.
	Dual Gigabit (1000Mbit) network cards - Having Gigabit network cards allow maximum data transfer to and from our servers.

Server Software

CentOS
All of our servers run CentOS Linux which is an open source UNIX based operating system. It is considered one of the best operating systems for server use due to its high reliability, security and efficient use of system resources like memory and CPU power.

	Apache - This is the web server program run on all of our servers, which delivers the web pages to the user’s browser. It is the worlds most popular and is used by 63% of web servers. This is down to its amazing performance and many features which make it the best in the world.
	MySQL 4 and 5 - MySQL is used in a wide range of database applications, including Web databases, e-commerce applications, data warehousing, logging applications and distributed applications. We run both MySQL 4 and 5.
	PHP 4 and 5 - PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be easily embedded into HTML. We run both PHP 4 and 5.
