General Practice Intranet

General Practice GP IntranetsWe offer two solutions for your practice intranet - Hosted Online or Dedicated Own Server - Both options are described below, you can also access our demo intranet here.

Intranet: Hosted Online

This intranet is hosted on the internet and is an addition to our Standard GP Website package.

It is a private area of your website that can be used for internal practice information and is intended for access by Doctors, Nurses and all other staff at your practice.

Features of this Intranet:

  1. Password protected area of your website that is designed for access by staff only.
  2. Individual Usernames and Access Levels
  3. You can access and modify the intranet yourself
  4. You can upload files to your intranet (e.g. PDF, Word, Exel)
  5. Add unlimited pages and menu items.
  6. Search function
  7. Events Calendar
  8. Practice News Area

Please Note: This is a hosted solution that resides on the internet. It is therefore NOT RECOMMENDED for confidential information. For example, use it for Staff Handbooks, Clinical Procedures, Phone Lists etc, but do not use it for Staff Salaries, Practice Accounts, etc.

We provide documentation on how to update Intranet content. However we also provide on-site training (for up to 3 staff members per session) as part of our Editors course - See our price list for further details.

Intranet: Own Web-Server

This product is a true Intranet, i.e. a web-server running on your practice's local area network (LAN). The main advantage of this is that any information including confidential data (e.g Practice Accounts) can be stored for access within the Intranet. Also, access speeds are not restricted to the speed of your internet connection.

Features of this Intranet include:

  1. Unix or Windows based web-server running on your Local Area Network
  2. Password protected area of your website that is designed for access by staff only.
  3. Individual Usernames and Access Levels
  4. You can access and modify the intranet yourself
  5. You can upload files to your intranet (e.g. PDF, Word, Exel)
  6. Search function
  7. Events Calendar
  8. Practice News
  9. Add unlimited pages and menu items.
  10. Remote support options available

Please Note: The price does not include the hardware required to run your web-server. Generally any powerful PC is suitable, however it must be dedicated to the task.
