The Design & Development Process

Introduction:
The development of your web site is carried out as a managed project. The project includes the tasks described below:

Step 1:

The Initial Design Meeting:
Here we meet with your practice web site representative(s). Normally a Doctor or Practice manager is nominated for this task. They act as liaison between your Practice and ourselves. We discuss your requirements, identify what products you require, any design concepts you may already have, the content you wish to place on the site, preferred web site address and so on. From this meeting we aim to gather enough information to construct the site. After this meeting, subsequent liaison is usually made by email and telephone.

Step 2:

Internet Hosting:
The hosting for your web site is set up using your address e.g. www.yourpracticename.nhs.uk. An 'under construction page' is presented on the world wide web.

Step 3:

Initial Design:
We produce an initial design for your approval. This is usually based on one of our existing designs tailored for your logo and colour scheme. The design is published 'behind' the 'Under construction' page so that only you may see it, casual visitors will only see the 'Under Construction' page. Publishing the site on the web in this way enables you to keep monitor the build process as it progresses. Any design changes are made and once you give approval, we start the development process.

Step 4:

Site Development:
Here the site is developed and the daily work is uploaded to the private web-site so that you may view progress. We provide regular 'Status Reports' by email to keep you up-to-date.

Step 5:

Quality Assurance:
On completion we under take a detailed Quality Assurance (QA) process to ensure your site is error free.

Step 6:

Training:
Training is given on any aspect of the site. Normally this is provided as a set of simple to follow written instructions. However we can visit and carry out one-to-one training if you prefer.

Step 7:

Go-Live:
When you are entirely happy with the site, we remove the 'Under Construction' page and make the site public to the World Wide Web.

Step 8:

Search Engine Submission:
As part of the 'go-live' process we submit your site to a number of search engines and directories.

Step 9:

Web Site on CD:
We send you a copy of your web site on CD. This is your own backup copy. We also keep on-site and off-site backups of the site on your behalf (these are in addition to the version hosted on the Internet).
